District Tree Program

     Our annual sale offers a wide variety trees see the 2012 TREE ORDER FORM and check the descriptions on the TREE SHEET. The SWCD offers design services, planting, and weed matting. We also have a tree planter, a 6' hooded sprayer for between rows, and a 22' sprayer available for rent by the day.

     Financial assistance is available for some projects through a variety of programs depending on the type of planting. Just call us work out the best program for your land.

 

Spring 07           Weed Matting + Tree Tubes = Incredible Growth            Fall 07

Site B1 in the spring of 2007. The grass is just starting to green up. The weed fabric, trees and tubes are installed but no growth is apparent.           Site B1 in the Fall of 2007 the trees have grown out of the 4 foot tubes. The areas between the weed fabric is solid grass. 

Native Grass & Wildflower Seeds

     The SWCD offers several native seed mixes including Lakeshore, Short Grass Prairie, Filter Strip, or we can design a custom mix for your site. Native grasses and wildflowers have adapted to our soils and climate over thousands of years. They have many benefits including:

Better establishment especially on poor, droughty, or flood prone soils.

Develops extensive root systems that exclude weed seedlings reducing long term maintenance.

Provide excellent erosion control and wildlife habitat.

Add beauty with wildflowers, different blooms for every season.
