We are thrilled to announce that the 2017 Minnesota Conservationist of the Year is our very own neighbor in East Otter Tail County! Sandhill Dairy and Toad River Farms, represented by the Bob Dombeck family of Perham, was chosen by the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts as the Outstanding Conservationists of 2017 for their efforts in protecting Minnesota’s natural resources.

Bob Dombeck, Jeremy Lachowitzer, Mark Dombeck, and Steve Dombeck (above, left to right) operate Sandhill Dairy and Toad River Farms. The Dombeck family milks 350 cows, raise their own heifers, and have nearly 2,000 acres of irrigated crops including corn, soybeans, kidney beans, and alfalfa north of Perham. On their farm they have implemented many conservation practices including crop rotations, irrigation management, critical area and buffer seedings, cover crops, and manure management.

Congratulations to the Dombeck family and thanks for all that you do to protect the resources in Otter Tail County!
